BREAD FOR BEGGARS
BRAND IDENTITY // COLLATERAL
Bread for Beggars is a website hub for Christian art, music, articles, podcasts, videos, etc., to learn and grow in faith. The name ‘Bread for Beggars’ is inspired by Martin Luther’s dying words; “We are beggars. This is true,” meaning we always need that spiritual bread of worship to grow in God’s Word.
This inspiration drove the direction of the logomark to have a wood-cut style, that gives an authentic, hand-crafted look and feel to mirror the contents of the Bread for Beggars site.
NARRATIVE WITH STYLE
A key to the solution of this identity was simply choosing the correct subject matter to represent the strong narrative the name and inspiration provides.
Pastor Mark Parsons, the head administrator at Bread for Beggars, spoke of his strong visual he sees while he gives communion at church. The direction was taken from that strong visual of those hands.
Beginning with the outline of the hands, lines were then given more weight to increase practicality as a logo. Then, the curves were given a more angular look to create that wood-cut feel, and eventually given a shading that gives the logomark that final touch.
